| A typically docile subject matter, Janet Harvey’s flowers defy the stereotype with their sheer boldness. The artist’s adept ability to depict color, light and shadow and her attention to magnified detail create a visually stimulating composition that radiates drama and vitality. Harvey began to paint as a teenager and continued her artistic endeavors by earning a Bachelor of Fine Art in Graphic Art from Texas Christian University in 1973. Harvey later became a graphic designer and helped develop the successful “paper by the pound” concept for the stationery market. After spending 25 years designing stationery and note cards while raising three children, Harvey returned to her artistic roots: painting. The artist has become well known for her signature subject matter and color choices. |
